Therapist resources for you!

It’s almost fall.

If you’re a parent (or student, or school counselor), you are likely in back-to-school mode.

Fall is typically a time when potential clients settle into new routines and start reaching out to therapists. As a result, you may be seeing an increase in clients.

Now that I am in NYC, I am appreciating the change in seasons, both weather seasons and seasons of productivity. I am gearing up for a re-focusing of sorts.

How about you?

Perhaps you are crafting a new schedule after the summer months, or deciding on your goals for the last quarter of 2018. As you move through these changes, the following resources may be just what you need!

1 | PsychNest

PsychNest condenses the latest psychotherapy information and techniques into written and audio summaries that will take no more than thirty minutes of your time. Vineel and Misael, founders of PsychNest, create book summaries that keep you focused on the most valuable information for your practice and therapy work. Get started with a free summary.

2 | My Wellbeing

A platform that applies the matchmaking model to helping potential clients find their perfect therapist, My Wellbeing is an innovative business addressing needs for both therapists and the public. Currently, the service is offered exclusively in New York City, but, it may expand to your city in the near future. Alyssa Petersel, founder and CEO of My Wellbeing, was recently featured in Forbes. Read her story. Also, if you’re a therapist in NYC, join the My Wellbeing community.

3 | Supervision Support

After going through a difficult situation with a clinical supervisor, Deseray Hamilton created Supervision Support to ensure post-grad interns would thrive in their supervisory relationships. Supervision Support hosts a directory of qualified supervisors for therapist-interns needing a first-time supervisor, or a “rescue” supervisor. Additionally, Supervision Support offers meetings where interns can connect with one another, as well as a blog, podcast, and Facebook group. Check out this budding community, or share it with a new therapist in your life.

4 | Blog Like a Pro

Sharon Martin, LCSW and prolific blogger, offers a blogging class for therapists called Blog Like a Pro. If blogging is on your list of must-do marketing strategies for this year, then check out this class. Sharon and her business are an example of how blogging will expand your reach, simplify your marketing (and save you money!), and lead to additional career opportunities. She even offers one-on-one feedback to her students! Learn more about Blog Like a Pro. (As an aside: Sharon was a recent guest expert in The Refreshed Therapist Network (RTN). Members of RTN receive a discount to this class. Just one reason to join the RTN community!)

5 | The Media Darling Method

Are you dumbfounded by how some therapists gain national and international exposure, while others seem to struggle to fill a local therapy group? Well, Melody Wilding has the answers. In her course, The Media Darling Method, she teaches therapists how to connect with media outlets, become featured, be recognized as an expert, and maximize their media exposure to grow their careers and platforms. Melody’s system works! Begin now.

6 | Learn with Amazon

Prioritize your learning this fall, with Amazon.com. Amazon is offering two free audiobooks with an Audible trial, as well as one free month of Kindle Unlimited. Amazon is one of my favorite places to shop for personal and professional needs. I am a Prime Member, Amazon Affiliate, Wish List curator, and frequent book buyer. These two offers are keeping me and other book club members on track, too!

  • Affiliate disclosure: Links for PsychNest and Amazon are affiliate links. If you choose to sign up for the free trial and then choose to purchase, Family Therapy Basics may earn a small commission to support this blog. I use affiliate links only for products that will help you simplify your work and life!
